Rehoming Your Dog

We're sorry to hear you're thinking of rehoming your dog. If you would be able to keep your dog at home with resources and recommendations, please contact us and we will try to help.

Please note if you have obtained your dog from a reputable breeder or adopted your dog from a rescue organization, they will likely require you to return your dog to them.

Please also consider that the United States is in a crisis right now with shelters and rescues overflowing with dogs, cats, and other animals. There are not enough shelters, rescues, fosters, or adopters to keep up with the extreme number of unwanted animals. Healthy, young dogs with zero behavioral problems are not getting adopted. Shelters are having to make terrible decisions daily due to lack of space. For the sake of your dog, animal welfare workers, and other animals, please consider trying everything you can to keep your dog (if it is safe to do so).

Unfortunately we are not set up to take in stray dogs.

What to expect when requesting to surrender your dog

  • NOTE: We can only accept owner surrenders from within NH.

  • Submit a Surrender Request Form and include as much detail as possible.

  • We will review the form and ask follow up questions.

  • We will ask for any veterinary information you have to determine if your dog is spayed/neutered and up-to-date on core vaccines, as that impacts what we can help with.

  • We require you to sign our Surrender Agreement

  • We currently do not have a mandatory surrender fee, but kindly suggest that you make a donation, which will help us with expenses like food and vet care.

  • Due to resources (physical space, financial, medical, training, needs of our current dogs), we are unfortunately not able to accept all owner surrender requests. If unable to help, we will do our best to suggest other recommendations.

*Please note that Jezzie’s Place reserves the right to refuse any owner surrender request.
