Jezzie's Place Rescue is a very small, ethical rescue in rural Canaan, NH. We're a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in November of 2024.

About Jezzie's Place

The rescue was founded by long-time Upper Valley resident Haley Tucker, and is run by Haley and her husband Michael, who live on the property with their own animals.

Jezzie's Place was originally a full-time dog boarding facility, started by Haley in the fall of 2020. But the end goal was always to save animals, so in 2022, Haley began transitioning the building to a rescue. While we still board on a limited basis for some previous clients and our adopters, we aren't taking new boarding clients.

We do not have employees and no one takes a salary from the organization. Michael and Haley work full-time jobs outside of the rescue for income, and the limited amount of boarding income contributes to building expenses.

We have a handful of volunteers who come spend time with the dogs.

We take in a very small number of dogs per year. We only have six primary kennels (plus two quarantine kennels), and are only allowed by the State of NH to have six total dogs at a time, including any boarding dogs. But we actually prefer to have four or less rescue dogs at a time so that we're able to meet their needs better.

We don't usually have young puppies. We focus more on adolescent up to senior dogs who may be overlooked at shelters, are on urgent lists, or have special needs.

Jezzie's Place does not have open hours to the public. Due to full-time jobs, volunteer schedules, boarding dogs, appointments, etc. we do everything by appointment to keep things running smoothly.
